چکیده

In this work, a novel scheme is proposed to compress human motion capture data based on hierarchical structure construction and motion pattern indexing. For a given sequence of 3D motion capture data of human body, the 3D markers are first organized into a hierarchy where each node corresponds to a meaningful part of the human body. Then, the motion sequence corresponding to each body part is coded separately. Based on the observation that there is a high degree of spatial and temporal correlation among the 3D marker positions, we strive to identify motion patterns that form a database for each meaningful body part. Thereafter, a sequence of motion capture data can be efficiently represented as a series of motion pattern indices. As a result, higher compression ratio has been achieved when compared with the prior art, especially for long sequences of motion capture data with repetitive motion styles. Another distinction of this work is that it provides means for flexible and intuitive global and local distortion controls. ∗This work was accepted to Computer Graphics Forum (CGF) for publication in 2008. †Jingliang Peng is with Qualcomm Inc., San Diego, CA, USA.

An automated time and hand motion analysis based on planar motion capture extended to a virtual environment

In the context of industrial engineering, the predetermined time systems (PTS) play an important role in workplaces because inefficiencies are found in assembly processes that require manual manipulations. In this study, an approach is proposed with the aim to analyze time and motions in a manual process using a capture motion system embedded to a virtual environment. Capture motion system trac...

Efficient Indexing and Retrieval of Motion Capture Data Based on Adaptive Segmentation

In this paper we propose a unified approach to efficient indexing and content-based retrieval of human motion capture data as used in data-driven computer animation or computer vision. Opposed to other data formats such as music or video, the kinematic chain (a kind of human skeleton) as underlying model of motion capture data allows to introduce qualitative boolean features describing geometri...

3d Human Motion Retrieval Based on Human Hierarchical Index Structure

With the development and wide application of motion capture technology, the captured motion data sets are becoming larger and larger. For this reason, an efficient retrieval method for the motion database is very important. The retrieval method needs an appropriate indexing scheme and an effective similarity measure that can organize the existing motion data well. In this paper, we represent a ...
